Features

What makes WeatherAI different from other weather apps?+
Two things. You choose your forecast source: Apple Weather via WeatherKit, WeatherAI's own multi-model blend, the National Weather Service's official forecast in the U.S., or premium providers with Pro, rather than being locked to whatever one dataset the app ships with. And you can ask questions in plain language like 'Will it rain after 5?' instead of deciphering charts and percentages, with the answer drawing on the forecast, radar, and active alerts for your location.
How does the conversational AI work?+
Our AI understands natural language weather questions and provides context-aware answers. You can ask about specific times, locations, and activities (like 'Will I get rained on biking to work?' or 'Should I bring an umbrella to my soccer game at 6?') and the AI draws on current conditions, forecasts, radar data, active alerts, and your location to answer in plain English rather than raw numbers. Treat the answers as planning context, not a safety determination: for severe weather, lightning, flooding, or any other hazard, official warnings and local emergency guidance are the authority.
Does WeatherAI work offline?+
WeatherAI requires an internet connection to refresh weather data, radar imagery, and forecasts and to use the full cloud-based chat experience. Some AI tasks can run on-device with Apple Intelligence on supported devices; other features use WeatherAI's cloud services. Offline results do not replace refreshed live conditions.
What devices does WeatherAI support?+
WeatherAI is available on iPhone (iOS 18.1+), iPad (iPadOS 18.1+), Mac (macOS 15.1+ with Apple silicon), Apple Watch (watchOS 26+), and Apple Vision Pro. The Apple Watch app has current conditions, hourly and daily forecasts, and active alerts, and it runs on its own over Wi-Fi or cellular, even when your iPhone is not nearby. An Apple TV app is not currently available. The download page lists the requirements for each device.
What languages does WeatherAI support?+
The app is available in English, German, and Spanish. It follows your device language through iOS Settings, so there is no separate language picker in the app. Text the AI writes is still English: chat answers, the Home summary, and the on-device summaries of alerts and discussions. Official government products, such as U.S. forecast discussions, appear in the language the issuing agency publishes.

Privacy & Data

Do you track my location constantly?+
No, unless you grant the Always permission. WeatherAI only accesses your location when you open the app or when background refresh is enabled for notifications. You can control location permissions in iOS Settings and choose between 'While Using App,' 'Always' (for alerts as you travel/change locations), or 'Never.'
Can I use WeatherAI without creating an account?+
Yes! WeatherAI works perfectly without an account. Simply download the app and start using it immediately.

Pricing & Subscriptions

Is WeatherAI free?+
Yes, and the free tier covers much more than a basic forecast. It includes three selectable forecast sources (Apple Weather, WeatherAI Forecast, and, for the U.S. and its territories, the National Weather Service), live radar, official alerts from the U.S., Canada, the U.K., and parts of Europe, the severe and tropical weather hubs, SPC and WPC discussions, earthquakes, volcanoes, wildfires, rivers, tides, buoys, METARs and TAFs, space weather, air quality for the U.S. and Canada, and 20 AI chat messages a month. No account is required. Optional Standard and Pro subscriptions add ad removal, unlimited chat, and professional radar, satellite, and model layers.
What's included in the Standard subscription?+
Standard unlocks an enhanced everyday experience: AI weather summary on the app's Home tab, ad-free experience, unlimited chat messages, daily summary and sun event notifications, global detailed air quality data, nearby lightning data within 25 miles, Canadian radar from ECCC, PIREPs and SIGMETs/AIRMETs, a turbulence layer, historical past 7 days in charts, faster refresh rates, additional widget themes, and 10 custom notifications. Canadian, U.K., and European weather alerts are free for everyone; Standard adds the Canadian radar imagery. Pricing varies by region.
What's included in the Pro subscription?+
Pro includes everything in Standard, plus XWeather, OpenWeather, and Open-Meteo as three additional forecast sources and professional-grade data for weather enthusiasts: NEXRAD Level 3 professional radar layers (US), storm tracks in pro radar, US atmospheric soundings data, RTMA high-resolution current conditions (US), HRRR model layers (US), GLM lightning detection, satellite imagery via GOES and Himawari, MRMS composite reflectivity and precipitation type, 20 custom notifications, and the ability to view current conditions for favorite locations.
Can I cancel my subscription anytime?+
Absolutely. Subscriptions are managed through your Apple ID and can be canceled anytime in the App Store settings. There are no cancellation fees, and you'll retain premium access until the end of your current billing period.

Weather Data & Accuracy

How accurate are the forecasts?+
That depends on which forecast source you choose, where you are, and how far ahead you are looking, which is why we don't publish a single accuracy number. Forecast requests use the coordinates of your selected location, whether found through Location Services or chosen by search. Nearby locations can still share model-grid data; a precise request coordinate does not guarantee street-level forecast accuracy. WeatherAI Forecast, our own source, blends guidance from several traditional and AI weather models and weights them by location, forecast range, and data availability. No forecast source is best everywhere: accuracy varies by region, season, and weather regime, and all of them degrade with lead time.
