Understanding Sun Times
Golden Hour
The period shortly after sunrise and before sunset when sunlight is softer, warmer, and more diffused. Photographers prize this light for its flattering qualities and dramatic shadows.
Civil Twilight
When the sun is 0-6° below the horizon. There's enough natural light for most outdoor activities without artificial lighting. Street lights typically turn on/off during this period.
Astronomical Twilight
When the sun is 12-18° below the horizon. The sky is dark enough for astronomical observations of faint objects. After this, it's considered true night.
