WeatherAI 2026.05.1 brings severe weather warnings to your Lock Screen and Dynamic Island, makes your saved locations work everywhere in iOS, adds a new Radar control widget, and refreshes the Home Screen with an animated, condition-aware sky.

Severe Weather Live Activities (US only)
Active severe weather warnings can now appear on your Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island, with a live countdown until the warning expires.
- Tornado, severe thunderstorm, flash flood, hurricane, and tsunami warnings are supported
- Tap the Live Activity to jump straight to the alert in the app
- Toggle on or off in Settings → Notifications → Live Activities
Saved Locations Throughout iOS
Your saved locations are now first-class citizens across iOS, so Siri, Shortcuts, and Spotlight can use them by name.
- Ask Siri things like "What's the weather in <saved location>" or "Show radar for <saved location>"
- Saved locations appear in Spotlight search — tap one to jump straight to it in the app
- Search for any city in Spotlight and use the WeatherAI suggestion to open it directly
Radar Control Widget
A new Radar control is available in Control Center, on the Lock Screen, and as an Action Button shortcut. One tap takes you straight to the radar map.
Richer Siri & Shortcuts Snippets
Asking Siri for the current weather now returns a richer snippet with the condition icon, temperature, feels-like, humidity, and wind alongside the spoken response.
Animated Home Screen Hero
The top of the Home Screen now features a layered, condition-aware sky that adapts to time of day, current weather, and active alert severity.

- Sunrise, day, dusk, and night palettes blend smoothly throughout the day
- Active severe alerts gently tint the sky so you can feel the conditions at a glance
- Prefer the original look? Turn on "Use classic home background" in Customize Home Screen
Faster, Smoother List Views
Nearby METARs, TAFs, tide stations, storm reports, and wildfires now load in pages, so the first results appear quickly and more load as you scroll.
Dynamic Radar Legends
Radar legends now update automatically as radar products are tweaked. For example, the velocity product can be adjusted for improved visual differentiation between inbound and outbound winds, and the legend will reflect the new colors without needing an app update.
Polished Detail Rows
Air quality, earthquakes (USGS and EMSC), METARs and TAFs, tides, storm reports, and wildfire rows have been reworked for better readability and a more consistent look across the app.
NWS Card Improvements
- Stale observations now show their age so you know when data is older than expected
- General improvements to loading NWS data
Bug Fixes and Improvements
- Various behind-the-scenes performance and stability improvements
